10th Anniversary of Goldratt’s Marketing Group | top

Dear TOC Weekly Subscriber,

We, at Goldratt’s Marketing Group, are honored for having been able to share the world of TOC with you over the last 10 years through newsletters, books, videos, programs and events.

Every year has been a challenge, where learning and growth have become a standard more than an exception. We started 10 years ago as a single entity, offering ONE product to the TOC practitioner community. Today, with a network of very professional individuals and organizations, we offer over 500 products in 40 different countries.

The Theory of Constraints has evolved significantly during these past 10 years. If we review some few examples, we realize how the TOC body of knowledge has not only grown but expanded throughout the world. Let’s take for example the TOC solution for production. What was described in The Goal as a production solution has today evolved to be an operations solution for all sorts of industries from manufacturing to healthcare. Even within manufacturing, TOC implementations now cover Make to Stock, Make to Availability and Make to Order environments, each with its own specifics. The Project Management arena has had the same effect. TOC implementations range from single project environments to multi-project environments and even to multiple single projects environments. TOC does no longer focuses ONLY on the execution part of the projects, but also provides a breakthrough for the selection of the right projects and the definition of their content.

Today, we no longer see TOC implementations as a functional/tactical solution, but rather "holistically" ensuring that implementations bring companies to be ever-flourishing. The recent world financial turmoil became a definite proof of how the "TOC companies" (companies that have made TOC their main way of management) were not only immunized, but grew and were prepared to capitalize on it.

TOC is no longer “the best kept secret in the world. Companies of all sizes and industries, known and unknown, share with the world their experiences and results of adopting TOC as their management philosophy, as shown and documented on TOC.tv.

Please allow us to finish this message by saying THANK YOU from all of us at Goldratt’s Marketing Group for allowing us to bring the ample selection of TOC learning resources closer to you.

We wish you a very successful 2010!

Goldratt's TOC Golden Nugget #3

Immunizing against competitors' price reduction:
(Inventory turns offer; Sales)

One of the reservations initially raised by our clients’ sales people, regarding the inventory turns offer, is that even though they (at last) see the benefits of that offer to their prospects (distributors and/or retailers – resellers), a competitor can still easily win by simply reducing prices.

Not only that there is a decisive answer for such a reservation, but its explanation deepens the sales force understanding of their clients.

Unreleased appendix to the original edition of The Choice - To Think About ... Chapter 3  | top

"The book contains a few business chapters, but it is mainly how to live a full life."

Highly interested in this subject, Efrat Goldratt began the most fascinating intellectual journey she has ever taken, when meeting and debating with Eli Goldratt about the messages he wanted to convey in the book The Choice. Efrat Goldratt writes:

"The pace of discussions was rather fast. Aba raised point after point, all of which I wished I could take the time to digest. Not before long I started to feel overwhelmed. I began to have a growing feeling that I was missing important things. I also became curious to see if I could actually do what he suggested. I wanted to experiment writing these logical maps he was talking about. I asked for his help in constructing a logical map of each of the chapters that described our interaction. In order to verify that I was not lost, the maps were written to reflect his main message of the chapter. I also started taking notes to see whether the maps made sense to me and to articulate where I stood. The logical maps and my notes are now inlcuded as part of the book; they are attached as appendixes."

To think about ... Chapter 3

I'm
 so
used
 to
reading
my
father’s
articles
 from
a
business
point
of
view
that
it
takes
me
a
while
 to
get
used
to

on
the
logic.

The
operation

surely
represents
my
idea
 of
how
complex
reality
can
 be.
However
I
 have
to
admit
 that
once
I
read
the
article,
the
impression
I
got
was
a
 little
 different.

Based
 on
how
 complicated
such
 an
organization
 must
be,
my
initial
assumptions
were
that
I
 will
 not
understand
 much
without
learning
more
about
 the
 subject,
 and
 that
once
 I
have
 enough
 data
to
understand
what
 is
going
on,
 I
will
 see
that
to
operate
in
such
 a
complex
 organization
complex
 procedures
 are
in
place.

The Choice
In this book, Goldratt once again presents his thought provoking approach, this time through a conversation with his daughter Efrat, as he explains to her his fundamental system of beliefs - a pragmatic life philosophy.
