Letter to members #7

Local implementation of an holistic approach is an oxymoron.

Dear POOGI forum members

Why are so many POOGIforum members, who are not already at the top of the totem pole, blocked?

The main obstacle that you point to is the fact that top management is not willing to listen to you. As a matter of fact, most of you "complain" that it is more likely that your top managers will listen to an outsider than to an insider.

Personally. I think that the message is more important (and effective) than the messenger but you may be right. So let‘s check it. Let‘s check both alternatives.

Not before long, hopefully within the next 4 weeks, I will send you a letter in which I‘ll detail the entire logic of how to give a presentation aimed at convincing top management to embark properly on POOGI. I will also attach the power point presentation. This (once studied) will enable you to give the message properly.

Also, International Institute for Learning (IIL) have scheduled for me four 3-hour presentations in December. To make it as easy as possible these resentations are free of charge.

But they are limited to maximum three people per business unit, at least one of whom must be a top manager. Top manager is defined as a person reporting directly to a head of a business unit, or higher.

The places in which I‘m going to present are: Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Atlanta and the respective dates are 13,14,15 and 17 of December.

If you can convince a top manager to attend, call IIL for an invitation.

Here is the formal agenda of my presentations:

What to change? - What is the core problem?
Every executive is convinced that the only prudent way to manage an organization is to never lose sight of the global picture. Unfortunately, almost all executives are also convinced that this is the way they are currently managing their organizations. The first hour of this presentation is devoted to not only confirm that this is not the case, but to clearly demonstrate the erroneous belief that blocks executives from managing according to their intuition.

To what to change? -- What is the solution?
Everyone who has come across Dr. Goldratt‘s work is aware of his strong logic and common sense solutions. You are most likely familiar with parts of these solutions (in production, marketing and engineering) from reading Dr. Goldratt‘s best-selling books; The Goal, It‘s Not Luck and Critical Chain, but the complete solution is detailed in his latest work, The Goldratt Satellite Program Videos. Since the complete solution has been unveiled and is now readily available in the market, this 3-hour presentation will focus on the answer to the next and most crucial question…

How to cause the change?
In the last 20 Years, a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience has been gained from TOC implementations in thousands of organizations. As it turns out, the obstacles standing in the way of proper implementations have no relation to the type of industry to which an organization belongs, to its economic environment or even to its size. All obstacles have one thing in common: they are all human-related, psychological obstacles. Identifying these obstacles and successfully overcoming each of them is the essence of this presentation. You will obtain the full understanding of how to embark on a smooth and successful implementation of an enterprise-wide management approach; guaranteeing a successful process of ongoing improvement to the bottom line.

As I see it, you have three alternatives:
1. Do nothing.
2. Convince at least one of your top managers to attend one of my presentations.
3. Give the presentation yourself (once you will receive it).

Please answer me which of the three alternatives you are likely to chose and why. The "why" is the most important to me.

Waiting for your valuable feedback
Eli
